#1 Bestselling Lipbalm Brand in Japan: Mentholatum

Mogitate Kajitsu Lipbalm series comes in five different fruit mixes: Strawberry, Grape & Berry, Orange & Mango, White Peach and Lemon & Lime.

Thanks to thesamplestore, I'm privileged to be given some to try!

Being the strawberry lover, I picked the Strawberry flavoured lip balm to try first of course. It had a very unmistakably strawberry fragrance to it - this is expected of course, for any good lip blam that boasts to be strawberry flavoured.

It glided on very smoothly. At first it seems a bit "oily" but really, after awhile, the texture of your lips will feel perfect.

Very good! I wish though, that it could be slightly coloured. :) Like, those that you put on and has some light rose colouring. Another thing about this which I'm not too sure of is that, it seems that I cannot retract the balm if I push too much of it out! Hmmm the problem might just lie with me though.

I gave the other two flavours to my besties and they both loved the other two flavours. :D

Another 2 lippies I got was the Mentholatum Deep Moist range.

Available in two-types: Deep Moist Menthol and Deep Moist Natural.

I am definitely the kind of girl who goes for scents and flavours so I gave the Deep Moist Menthol to my BF whom I know will definitely appreciate the menthol in it. It has a very cooling feel to it when applied. Right up the BF's alley la. Haha!

He even commented about the oval container that made it easy to apply on the corners of the lips!

The Deep Moist Natural is great for no-nonsence straight forward moisturising lip care. :) Perfect for when my lips are desperately dry. Like that time that I was in Beijing and it was mad cold. My lips were breaking apart and it really hurt. Wish I had this then.

Nevertheless, this will definitely go into my travel bag for my year end trip to Sweden! :D

Any how, there is a contest you might be interested in:

Re!Plenish @ Hotel Re!

I was invited by the kind people at Hotel Re! to a food tasting session of their latest new Brunch Buffet..

It is a weekend-only brunch buffet that starts from 11am to 3pm.

Here are some of the yumm-meh food I got to enjoy.

Check out the spread!

Lamb Shank in Extra Virgin Oil & Red Wine Reduction Sauce

This is one of my favourite dishes. It's very soft and yummy. I spoke to the chef about this dish and he mentioned that a lot of time is spent on marinating and leaving it to simmer. :)

Assortment of food (The Crayfish is mad awesome. So juicy and very generously big chunks!)

Tenderloin of Beef with Goose Liver & Peppery Jus

This is the BF's fav. I liked it too. Couldn't really spot any goose liver but I guess it must be mostly in the sauce. Yummy!

Other worthy mentions are: Laksa, Satay Fried Rice and Lobster Bisque (yums!)

There were also desserts but to be honest, I didn't really like it much. I love rich chocolate kinda of dessert but Hotel Re!'s spread were more towards the shooters and some mini cakes.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

In my humble opinion, the food was good across the board but I felt that the spread could have been bigger to include more choices. Afterall, buffets in Singapore are usually larger than life with overwhelmingly huge range of choices to pick from.

Here are details of the buffet if you are interested:

Adult: $38.80++ | Child: $18.80++
Hotel Re! is located at Pearl's Hill
175A Chin Swee Road

I'm sure he'll like it! It's too pretty to be eaten but I hardened my heart and dug in. Chocolate cupcake! It is really actually very nice. Check out our finished product! :)

At the end of the event, we had goodie bags! Here's what I got:

Acnes 3 Step Kit Review

Acnes 3 Step Kit. Thanks to thesamplestore, I got the opportunity to review this wonderful new product. #1 in Japan leh!

It came in the nick of time for I was having this massive acne breakout! It was definitely due to stress!

So there I was, seated in my living room, taking apart this product eagerly.

In the package I got 3 products, each representing 1 Step in the 3 Step process.

Step 1: CLEANSE > Acnes Creamy Wash
Step 2: TONE & MOISTURISE > Acnes Powder Lotion
Step 3: SPECIAL CARE > Acnes Sealing Jell

My Review:

Acnes Creamy Wash >> I do not normally have breakouts but when I do, they get real nasty. I tried the cleansing form and found it to be really refreshing though a tad dry. The subtle lime fragrance is quite the surprise too. What I really loved about this is that it lathered up really well! I think that for this product, it's at quite good value too. Only SGD$6.90

Acnes Powder Lotion >> That's okay because when I used the powder lotion, it felt really good. It wasn't oily or anything. It was a very light and powdery feeling. Ah yes, MATT is the word. MATT-finishing! Out of the 3 products in this 3 step kit, I love this lotion the most. :)

Acnes Sealing Jell >> Next up, the Sealing Jell. What is this, you ask. Is it a pimple cream or... ? Well I used it on my pimples and it seems to heal the skin back, and not burn the pimple till it dries and flake off - like most conventional creams that contain lots of benzoyl peroxide.

***

To those who have acne, ACNES is a range of products you might want to try. Also, if you have any skin and beauty related questions, Acnes has a health consultant Elaine Heng in the house! Check out their website for more information. They also help to advise what products are more suitable for your needs.

The image below will definitely give you all further information that you need on the 3 products I reviewed! :)

I want a canine friend. :(

The adoring looks of Mimi

In the last one month, I've been thinking hard and I've been thinking long. Even as I smsed my friend, Gwen, about adopting the lost dog she found, I wonder if I am doing the right thing. For everyone concerned.

In the week following my sms to Gwen, I thought through my decision to bring home a dog. It was a huge responsibility for me. Especially since I have a full time job. Yet I knew what I was in for. I grew up with dogs and loved each intensely.

I had Whisky, a mixed breed, and now Mimi girl, a minature pinscher who lives in JB with my brother and father. I miss her very much. I remember her looks of mischief and her looks of innocence. The troubles she created and the love and loyalty she gave us all.

Such a darling girl...

L to R: Me, Mimi and My Grandmother

Just as I knew someday I'll settle down and have a family, I knew with equal certainty that, that picture wouldn't be complete without a dog sprawled at my feet or there to greet me when I'm home from work.

Before when I started working and living in Singapore alone, I always longed someday - once I had a house to call my own and some stability in my life - to own a dog again.

Now I have both. I now own a place that I don't intend to leave anytime soon. And this place is my very own to call home.

I like to think of it as a perfect little sanctuary in a perfect location near to everything I need, my work and play. I spent months scouring for things and information that will help me make the home perfect. From carpets, to plants, to hooks.... to remote control holders... I enjoyed myself tremendously.

So it was only natural that once I got the joint right, it made sense that I bring home a little, four-legged roommate to tear it all apart again.

There are fears that I banked and awoke and banked again. Will I have time for him/her? Will I be tired of him/her? Will he/she be really naughty and tear up the house? Will I be able to toilet train him/her? Will it be alright to leave him/her alone? Will I be able to do it all by myself?

Obviously I never lost sight of these questions.

As I question myself over and over again, one thing remains clear. And that is, I need a canine friend. So should I take a little one's fate in my hands? :/

Let's see how it plays out...

The Client and The Ad Agency

I found this spoof on how relationships are like between the client and the ad agency.

Ad agencies in general do not get much respect in a great variety of ways. One of these ways, is the devaluation of an agency's services. In short, HAGGLING.

I agree with this guy's opinion that there are no other business that I know of that would accept this type of customer relationship, and it could be that those in the industry only have ourselves to blame.

Read the entire article here | Here's another great spoof too

The Debut I've been waiting for.

Finally. FINALLY, after so many months of research, hair pulling, going half mad at html, xml and what not, and of course, procrastination, a new look for my dear blog debuts.

So... what do you think!

The last blog template was honestly a disgrace. I work in digital marketing and my blog had to be the most un-userfriendly one out there. But hey, I recognised a change was overdue and well, it's done finally!!!

During the planning stage, my ideal template changed so many times. I have this idea that I want it to be white based. I wanted it to be personal. It had to reflect who I am. It had to be easy to share and easy on the eyes. There has to be outlets for interactions (tag board..comments... etc).

I thought I found a great idea and then chucked it... found another and improved it and gave up... oh man. But finally....!! :)

Good bye old template. You served me well for 2 years. Now, a new era begins! :D

Credit Cards has its perks

Because my friends, I got a new steamboating cum bbq machine from Standard Chartered Bank. Spending on my credit cards has earned me enough points to redeem a Morris branded steamboating cum bbq machine.

And I love it!

Check out how it looks like!

The BF is due to leave for overseas work so we had a little steamboat sesh at my place. It was such a new experience to only buy food we like. Previously at all other steamboating seshs over at friends, we always buy a wide assortment. So this time round, the supermarketing was very focused and super fast. Haha!

I bought prawns, crab meat (my fav!), fish tofu, sausages (NTUC branded sausages are awesome), enoki mushrooms (superb for steamboats), assorted veg and beef. Pity there weren't any lamb for sale at NTUC.

Surprisingly, I found this easier to cook and clean as a whole process than the usual chinese cooking.

It looks like it's an ideal option as dinner next time! :)
