Chengdu Day 1 of 7

I got gazillion amounts of photos of my past travels to post but since I just got back from Chengdu, I shall ride on my enthusiasm and embark on this.

Definitely with intention to complete all 7 days. Yes sire.

It was a tiring flight to Chengdu. I took Air Asia X from LCCT (Kuala Lumpur) and flew to Chengdu.

Someone told me before. Never take budget on a China flight. It was obviously well meaning advice that came too late.

See, if you haven't been on a flight full of China people before, especially to a small city like Chengdu, you have much to goggle over.

Here are some things that made my flight to Chengdu extremely unpleasant.

1) China couple took our seat.

Great. My sis and I wanted to sit together. Jason was assigned a seat beside ours as well. We want to sit together. We want we want! LOL. So much to our dismay, there was this couple in our seat who refused to get up.

The air stewardess could not speak Mandarin at all. Don't ask me why they put her on a China flight but she was very unprofessional to the couple.

She told me to tell them that if they don't move, she will call "POLIS". I tried, really tried, to listen to what the seemingly agitated man wanted and then I gave up and asked my sis if he is even speaking Mandarin. LOL.

Jason came to our rescue. Long story short, I still don't know what was their problem but they got up and we sat down. Thank god.

2) Seats are 100m apart from each other; hence the need to shout.

No really, do you have to shout? In my ear?

3) The passing of food

I thought cannot bring your own food and drinks up the plane? Well, not that I have never done so but this, this scene was atrocious! They had everything in their bags! Dried stuff, crackers, pineapple tarts... and the list goes on. The stewardesses closed both eyes for sure. And I didn't see no tissue being used to wipe soiled hands! I dare not imagine where they wipe their hands after eating.

4) The plane lands and everyone STANDS!

Needless to say, the stewardess had a hard time getting them to sit down during landing and during taxi. She again, threatened these china passengers by saying "POLIS" in Bahasa. Ya like they would understand.

So pointless! Why Airasia let non-mandarin speaking crew fly the KL-Chengdu route?

Well, nvm, with every unbearable minute that I was on the flight, I was that much further away from Singapore, from work and from reality. =)

It was late when we landed in Chengdu but first things first, we went DIRECTLY to MA LA HOTPOT.

Omg, yumness to the max.

More photos of Day 2 of Chengdu Holiday coming up! Stay tuned!

Needing to change the way I live

I'm 25 going on 26. I have a boyfriend whom I've been with for 6 years. I work late hours in an advertising firm. I have a job I am passionate about. I like to think I'm good at my job. I work late. I struggle to get to work on time. Nothing much in stores fits me. I am not good with makeup. I end up like someone punched me every time I put on eye shadow. I have little time to myself, or when I do, I always fill it up with something else.

And in the past 1 year, I have neglected myself. I neglected taking care of and pampering me. I really did.

It took one encounter with a roomful of women my age who look like they walked out of a magazine to understand this.

They had fake eyelashes on - do you even know how much time is required to put on that stuff? They had coloured contact lenses or big eye lenses on. Their nails were painted. Some were plain coloured and some had sparkles on them - nonetheless, painted. They wore heels. Pretty ones. They had stockings on, patterned ones. They had fancy accessories on - tasteful ones. They had bags - those that are anything but boring, black ones. Their hair are coloured, styled and sassy.

I barely combed my hair - rebonded hair requires little combing except for the fact I run my fingers through them too often. My fingernails were bare. I saw no point in troubling myself with heels. I also saw no point in accessorizing. My bag is the same bag I carry everyday - black to coordinate with everything I own.

Well, this has to stop. I have to start taking care of my skin, of soul and my femininity. It's ridiculously easy to grow horizontally when you care more about deadlines and work than your own self.

I start with heels, with a good hair cut and a dye. I look at more colour to my wardrobe. And, variety of course. I dug up old clothes that I haven't worn for more than a year and discovered I do have some interesting pieces. I am exploring eye makeup. I never used to put mascara till 8 months back and thank god, I have that at least. And this weekend I wanted to give my nails some colour but I was too busy shopping with the girls till I had no time. Doesn't matter cos I am heading to JB this coming weekend for what seems like an inevitable change.

I'm grabbing hold of my youth. It's about time. :D

Watch out for CHANGE in me!

A sesh with my besties

I tell you ah, one of these days, my friends are all going to desert me and I will be lonely and nobody will love me.

I was supposed to meet with my oldest friends at 7.30pm the other day and I made it at 9.30pm. They even purposely arranged the place to be super near my office.

I keep up with this thing about being late for 2 hours every time, I will have no social life and end up marrying a colleague I tell you.

*sigh*

But I made it and my lovely friends put up with me every single time.

Weiling and I

Weiling, Me, Wei Shan

Ai Hooi came as well but she was the photographer. Haha!

We had a blast though it was only a short duration due to how ridiculously late I was. I told them about being stalked by my yoga master and it gave me the creeps to relive it all again.

Say, I have a dagger that turns back time...

... I know what I want to change about my life. I would go back to when I was in primary school and reversed the fact that I was quite a bully towards my sister. Much led to a cold war that lasted too many years to count really.

I'm sorry little sister. But thanks for opening your heart to embrace this sibling relationship again.

Maybe we could make the best of the fact that we had too many years of cold war to be closer than most other sibling relationships. After so many years of not communicating, and when we started to, I realised that we turned out pretty similar. I guess its true that those formative early age are important as it made us who we are today.

So yes, if I had a dagger that turns back time, this is the one thing I would probably change. Or maybe the fact that I over-ate at the age of 11-12...

Anyway, the reason why I started talking about daggers and reflecting on the past is that Prince of Persia is finally here! Yay! Waited awhile for this man! Here's a short sypnosis:

From the team that brought the “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films present PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME, an epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince (JAKE GYLLENHAAL) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (GEMMA ARTERTON) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. Check out the trailer below.
