Embracing life by appreciating the moment...
This is a dark entry. Quite different from the usual posts I do. Not to be negative but I just thought I'll come by and remind everyone of how tangible and fragile life is.
It starts from the moment we breathe our first till the day we inhale our last. You really never know what tomorrow has in store for you.
At the end of the day, are the things you get angry about or friends you are angry at that important?
I challenge all of us to think hard about the importance of our loved ones and unfinished business with those we love.
Too often we left angry, refusing to forgive or forget - making all these become burdens that we do not need to carry with us in our lives.
I went to Jiu Zhai Gou four months back with my family. My mom's friend brought his auntie and uncle along. This uncle went to China feeling well and all. But when he got back, he was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer and the doctor's advise was to prepare for the worst.
He passed away last Wed. I hope his wife is ok and that his family will recover from this tragedy soon. I am just so shocked that this was so sudden... and so sad.
It's a double edged sword, life's unpredictability is. Without it, we know what going to happen to us each and every day of our lives. Nobody will buy TOTO if they know they will never win. There will be literally no hope left. What's there to hope when everything's out in black and white already.
We won't be taking risks or enjoying life's ups and downs. Everything becomes expected.
Take the recent Singapore Youth Olympics for example. If we knew who will win, then why would you try your best to win? The other contestants will have NO drive to work harder and be better.
Humans will lose hope and drive.
So yes, life is unpredictable but use it to your advantage. Embrace the unknown, prepare for it and most importantly do the things you want to do, NOW. Not tomorrow or in the future... live life to the fullest. Do things you want to do, love as you like and enjoy all you can.
I am glad I wrote this. It made me sit up and enjoy life for what it is. Life is surely too short for regrets.
