How do women in their late twenties find love?

Just a question.

Busy executives. Driven. Ambitious. Career-minded. Opinionated.

How do these women in Singapore find a partner?

At 19, you were the youngest at the workplace. Women in their late 20's think maybe you should be up to some mischief instead of working. Men in their late 20's think you're a sweet young thing. You want to maybe look and be 24-25yrs and want to look a little more mature.

And then the years fly by. Suddenly you wake up and realise you're holy macaroons! already 27 years old! Now what? The men around you (colleagues likely, since we're talking about career-minded women here) are now either married, or too young. Those your age still make jokes that are not funny.

Erm, so you meet the random guy at the bar? How often men who make the first moves in a dimly lit bar are reliable?

I mean, how do they even decide you're someone they want to talk to?

You dance with confidence thus, you're easy? You laugh a lot, so you'll likely laugh at his jokes? You dress sexy, so he wants to see more of that fantastic cleavage? You're alone so, hey, pick you up better than that really hot girl at the other end of the room?

I say, loser, take a hike.

So what on earth do these self respecting women who are looking for life-long partners do? Someone who likes her for her character, for her wit, for her opinions, for everything that she is and isn't.

Ah now, this sounds like what I possibly can only find in a fairytale.

Of course, we don't rule out the exceptionals and fate that sometimes steps in.

Do we look among guys in the gym or oh god forbid, your neighbour? Gosh I don't know.

Mom if you are reading this, I'm destined to be your daughter forevermore if I cannot find Mr Right within 3 years!

P.s.: Let's see, maybe I go join a dating website?! That'll be cool wouldn't it? I'm sure there'll be loads of fun! Plus I'll blog about it!

  1. .... i just posted a comment and deleted it by mistake! zzzzzzzz.......
now i;ve forgotten what i've wrote.....:(

  2. If your pretty and smart you can find love even your more than 20.

  3. hahaha @xiaoxin, this is what you wrote:

I've got so many colleagues who met their other halves very late too! and some via SDU even! and they are all now very happily married and living in bliss! Furthermore 27 is still very young! and u are gorgeous!! :)

  4. Oh yes!
That's what i wanted to say!
Yes u are young and gorgeous! The right one will come along real soon... i met my bf very late too!

  5. i met my hubby at SDU too and at their dating website. we decided to tie the knot less than 2 years after dating.

  6. I would say GO FOR IT if you are thinking. Because at my very very late twenties, there was no way to know single and eligible men.

Those at the workplace are married, if not younger. Those that are your sec/poly/uni classmates dun really keep in touch already.

    No harm trying.

  7. Rach: Oh really! you should blog about you and hubby story one day!! :)

Xiaoxin: awww you are very sweet la! :)

  8. I read your blog and keep thinking to myself, oh my god, I've found my character-doppleganger! That aside, I think love comes when you don't look for it. And the best love can be found through a great friend who really knows you (for 5 months or 5 years it doesn't matter, as long as the friendship was first sincere). So who knows?
Don't take dating websites seriously! You know, once I decided to join one for the fun of it. Yes there are the few men whom you are able to engage in good conversations with... But the mass amount of "hi can i know u?" or "hi pretty" messages just shows what most men go to dating sites for. Very sad but true. Nevertheless, it will be interesting if you find a soulmate thru a dating site. Maybe you SHOULD blog about your experience there, and screenshot all the cheesy desperate messages for us to see! Heehee.

  9. Hey sueann, lovely to see you around.

What do you mean by saying that you've found your character? Haha

I completely agree with what you say. In fact, after typing that, I found love in one of the most unexpected places!! :P

I did join the dating site after all but like you say, it's a waste of my time! Hahaha And yes I will blog about my dating site "experience" for sure! :)

You have a great weekend ahead!
